Andrew Bailey denies being ‘unreliable boyfriend’ after not raising rates – video

The Bank of England defends not raising interest rates after Guardian reporter Larry Elliott challenged him on the market expectations rates would rise.

Bailey says he made a ‘conditional statement’ last month, but he insisted that no committee member, himself included, had made any pledges before this week’s meeting.

'Unreliable boyfriend' is a label first applied to Mark Carney.
